ULA Meter (Upper Level Auditor's Meter)

ULA Meter

For the technically minded here is a schematic of the main board and here a photo of the internal constuction.

The meter can be built into the case of an existing Mk6 or Mk7 meter:

This is the remote control. The swiches are all non-mechanical so are completely silent and never subject to aging.

The top line of the display shows

and the bottom line shows

time/date

The left button switches the TA mode between dual cans, solo and fingertip.
Next from the left is the time mode button which changes the time mode.
When it is blank the 2 right buttons switch time/date display.
The other modes are used to select what is changed by the right buttons - mins, hours, day, month, year.
The 2 right buttons adjust up and down.

Innovations beyond earlier meters

The ULA meter measures 300 digital samples a second. These can be processed in such a way as to provide full calibration of the way the meter responds including a much faster response than is possible from a purely analog meter.

The meter sends data to a connected computer allowing it to be used with C-meter software.

The sensitivity can be adjusted without the needle moving - the needle stays at reset.

The buttons allow greater control of the needle than a simple reset or TA pot. The adjustment of the needle does not vary with sensitivity. The needle is as easy to position at low sensitivity as it is at high sensitivity.

The meter can be reprogrammed with firmware updates without opening the meter.

Recalibration (rarely needed) can also be done without opening the meter as it is firmware controlled. Here are details of the calibration and update software .

Pricing

The ULA meter is available for €850 in EU. The optional remote control costs €100 .  For EU sales please contact ralph@cmeter.org
